Andy Coxon by Amy Crighton

In a new series of blogs where you write a blog about your favourite performer. The next of these blogs comes from Amy who writes about her favourite performer Andy Coxon.

When did you first discover your perfomer?
I first discovered him when my friend saw him in Les Miserables in London, she then took me to see the film and sat there pointing him out the whole way through. She suggested we go and see it on west end and I thought he was brilliant!

Have you seen them perform live if so in what shows?
I’ve seen him in Les Miserables, Another Way, the Interval So Far concert and most recently 20th Century Boy. He was amazing in every role he’s played, but I think Oliver from Another Way is my favourite so far!

How would you describe them to your fellow theatre fans?
Well where do I start? He has one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard! He can play literally any role flawlessly! He’s just perfect, I don’t understand why the whole world doesn’t love him already!
(He is also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met)

Favourite performance?
I really liked his performance in Another Way, and I thought the songs were really different from the usual musical theatre type songs you normally hear. He also did a few songs as Angel from RENT in the Interval So Far concert, and let me tell you, his I’ll Cover You was the best one I’ve ever heard.

Favourite song you've heard them perform?
I’ll Cover You! I can’t actually remember the name of the song he sung in Another Way, but I remember I really liked it… so that song too! There’s also an audio on YouTube of him singing If I Didn’t Believe In You from The Last Five years that I really liked, and when I say really liked I mean I listened to it on repeat for a week. If you don’t believe me look at my YouTube history!

Have you met them?
Yep! He is soooooo lovely! When I went to see 20th Century Boy, I went with the girl who runs his fanpage, Holly, and went she met him she looked like she was about to cry, it was adorable.

What show would you like to see them in?
I would really really love to see him play Jamie in The Last Five Years, I think he would suit that role perfectly! I think he’d be a great Galileo in We Will Rock You. I’d be happy to see him in anything though, to be honest.
